After a little confusion with DOS I have a fully working scanner!.
It is a very usefull piece of kit that does much more than stand alone scanners.
It shows an excellent array of live information and fault codes, has actuator tests and enables the user to adjust certain values on some models of car eg Idle speed .
I would recommend anyone who is thinking of buying one to get one and not be put off by the DOS based software because when set up properly it works really well and is easy to use.
I have also experimented with DOSbox on WIN XP and the software seems to run well, it is also possible to configure DOSbox to use serial ports so hopefully this will be a way round the 2x com port/ dos issue on modern laptops, I will post my results when I have tried it on a laptop and if anyone else has already done it this way please add your info to this thread.
If I can help anybody out with setting up etc I am happy to give you advice and I also have also collected quite a lot of uniscan related software so just ask.
